The HCC Leadership Club has been on campus for three years. The goals of the club are to explore opportunities to learn about leadership development and practice leadership skills. The club works on criteria for the Maryland Community College Activities Directors Association Leadership Certificate. This certificate is a state-wide recognition of leadership development, which includes attending workshops and conferences, learning about leadership styles, working on leadership philosophies and mission statements, practicing leadership techniques, and more. Club members host leadership workshops, attend area student leadership conferences, work on service learning projects, and complete a leadership portfolio. The club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 2:30 p.m. in the Student Center conference room. President is Allen Calvert, firstname.lastname@example.org and advisor is Heather Barnhart, email@example.com.
Our club was chartered to “further develop the skills and abilities of students interested in the video game industry.” The main purpose of this organization is to provide the students of Hagerstown Community College the opportunity to meet, to learn about the game industry today, and to work together to complete game related projects.
Our meetings will consist of group discussion, working on games, presentations, etc. Basically, we try to make games and have fun doing it.
We do some outside activities like take field trips, play/test games, have social events on campus and do game related giveaways. We’re open to new ideas, too. We like to get everyone involved in something.
This club gives students the chance to get outside and take advantage of the wonderful hiking, biking, rafting and rappelling adventures that our region offers.
